Our People in the Community
The people who work at our global offices share a love of travel and adventure, continual learning, and helping others. Below you can discover how some Cathay Pacific employees let their passion fly outside of work.
Customer Services Agent, Cathay Pacific Tokyoopen
Kanae Haito - Customer Services Agent, Cathay Pacific Tokyo
In April 2014, Kanae travelled to Cambodia with 22 employees from various global offices to assist UNICEF in delivering supplies and financial assistance that make a difference to Cambodian provinces in need.
The field trip gave our people the opportunity to see how UNICEF uses proceeds from our signature Change for Good programme, which collects donations from passengers on board. In addition to participating in the group’s support efforts, Kanae independently arranged for the collection of toys and stationery that she then distributed to local children during the trip.
Chin Cheng Peng
Senior Mechanic, Cathay Pacific Taipeiopen
Chin Cheng Peng - Senior Mechanic, Cathay Pacific Taipei
When Cathay Pacific mechanic Chin Cheng first visited Lhasa, the administrative capital of Tibet, he was astonished to see worshippers heading into the city on their knees or fully prostrate. During his trip he meet Chai Xia Siu, a teacher who left her home to help uneducated and impoverished kids in Yunnan. Chai Xia Siu’s work inspired Chin Cheng to cycle to Lhasa to raise money for charity.
Departing Taipei in April 2013 with just a bike and basic necessities, Chin Cheng travelled an astonishing 4,495 kilometres in 53 day but was forced to stop due to permit problems. He was deeply touched by the kindness of the people who he met along his journey and decided to make a cash donation that was double the amount he raised through sponsorship.

Jasim Al-Bastaki - Sales Manager
Sohail Ali - Assistant Online Sales & Marketing Manager , Cathay Pacific Bahrain
When Bahrain’s Formula One Championship race kicked off in April 2014, camera buffs Jamsin and Sohail were given the opportunity to attend and take stunning action shots. Sohail is a veteran motor race photographer who used to spend lots of time improving his technique before realising that good photography is more about the way the photographer sees things from different angles.
Jasim is passionate about motor race photography because he views it as a private speed race between the photographer and the driver. He takes pride in being a designated photographer for six major motor races in the Middle East region each year. It provides him with many thrilling experiences such as shooting from a helicopter to gain aerial shots of tracks.
