What is the recruitment process for the Flight Attendant position?

After your initial online application, if successful you will be invited to do a Digital Interview. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to participate in group activities, a one-to-one interview, language assessments (both English and Asian language) and lastly, a medical examination.

How long does it take to complete the whole recruitment process?

It depends from person to person, but in general the whole process will take at least 8 weeks.

What is a Digital Interview?

You will be using your computer or electronic gadgets such as tablets, phones, etc. to answer a few questions. These questions will be recorded and sent back to the interviewers for their review. Candidates will have 4 to 7 days to complete their Digital Interview.

How do I secure my group activity time slot?

Shortlisted applicants from the Digital Interview will be invited to Cathay Pacific City for further assessments. You will receive an invitation email from the Flight Attendant Recruitment Team. To secure your interview date, please reply to our email as we only have limited time slots available for each session.

How do I update my CV or change my contact information after I have submited the application?

How do I know if my application is successful or not?

Shortlisted candidates will be notified and contacted throughout the recruitment process. If you have not heard from us within 8 weeks after you have submitted your application, you may consider your application unsuccessful.

Can I re-apply if I am not successful?

You are welcome to re-apply after 6 months (from the date of your last interview), this will give you the opportunity to build up relevant experiences to prepare yourself for your next application.

What is the medical examination?

The medical examination is conducted by an appointed medical centre in Cathay Pacific City to ensure you are medically fit to execute the duties specified in our operations manuals. The arm-reach exercise (arm reach of 208cm on tip toe) will also be conducted at this stage.

Is this a permanent or contract position?

Successful recruits will be offered a 3-year contract. Upon satisfactory completion of your 3-year contract, you may be offered a continual contract subject to various factors including but not limited to your performance, attendance, operation and resource needs of the company.

Can I resign within the 3-year contract?

Yes, you may resign with advanced notice during the 3-year contract as it is not a bound contract.

Can I transfer between bases?

Base transfer will be subject to available openings and eligibility. As requirements differ between countries, you will need to meet the requirements of the base you wish to transfer to.

I'm a permanent Hong Kong citizen but I can't speak Cantonese. Can I still apply?

To qualify for our Hong Kong based position, you must be proficient in English and one of the following Asian languages: Cantonese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mandarin, Tagalog or Thai. You must be able to read and write the required language.

How are promotions for Cabin Crew determined at Cathay Pacific?

Requirements on promotion will be based on flying experience and overall performance profile. Cathay Pacific recognises those who have dedicated years of service and those who have demonstrated outstanding performance with the opportunity for career advancement.
